There have been 2 main articles that caught my eye recently. One of which was about celebrities sharing their struggles with eating disorders and addictions, and the other was the very public backlash over Kate Middelton’s “post-baby figure” 24 hours after giving birth. For the most part I try and stay away from these articles, but [...]

During an interview with iVillage’s Kelly Wallace, First Lady Michelle Obama discussed the topic of body image. It’s my hope that her words will serve to inspire fellow parents to adopt her perspective. She spoke candidly that when discussing food with her daughters Sasha and Malia she doesn’t speak in terms of which foods make [...]

Lady Gaga has been one of the music industry’s most prevalent provocateurs, never backing down from the opportunity to shock both her fans and detractors. But in late September, Lady Gaga did something more mystifying than wearing a meat dress: she posted a picture of herself in her underwear, sans makeup and platinum hair with [...]

We are a society that is obsessed with a woman’s weight and I am really getting tired of it. It’s not one thing that we fight to compete in a man’s world as mothers, wives, workers, and lovers, but we also have this constant uphill battle when it comes to the way we see ourselves and the way [...]

By now we have all seen or heard about Portia de Rossi’s eating disorder battle. She was all over the media and captured a lot of attention. I got her book, Unbearable Lightness, a few weeks ago, then promptly lost it (it was in checked luggage that was never seen again).

In this “celebrity rehab” edition we see another Disney star seeking treatment in rehab. Thankfully this time her rep. confirmed it is for an eating disorder, ending needless speculation. The celeb? 18 year old Demi Lovato. I am proud of Ms. Lovato for seeking treatment EARLY. As I know all too well eating disorders are masters at tricking you into thinking you don’t have a problem.

Are you sick of celebrity endorsements for diet plans? I was just flipping through one of my favorite celebrity gossip magazines (hey I live in LA!), doing a “media purge” and found an ad for a diet program starring Courtney Thorne-Smith. Courtney is a big network television star with past success on shows such as Melrose Place and According to Jim.
